Babatunde Abiose | Director

Babatunde has 22+ years of experience spanning corporate/business strategy development and implementation; business acquisitions and re-structuring; product development; and project management within the oil and gas, financial services, and agriculture sectors.

He worked with Standard Trust Bank (Now UBA) where he worked on the bank’s retail and corporate banking strategy and was a key part of the project team that acquired a Ghanaian bank and transformed it into Standard Trust Bank Ghana, the first fully owned Nigerian Bank in Ghana (Now UBA Ghana).

Babatunde was also a senior investment manager for GroFin (a multi-national fund manager, private equity and venture capital firm managing over $400million in funds from the IFC, FMO and CDC) where he spear-headed several investments in the Oil & Gas, Marine Transportation, Road Transportation, Hospitality, and ICT industries. During this period Babatunde was directly involved in the identification, appraisal, and investment of over $17million in several SMEs in Nigeria and monitoring them post-investment whilst providing the companies with Business Development Assistance (BDA).

Before then, he headed the Corporate Development function within the Strategy & Planning Department of Oando Plc where he led the development of product, storage, and sales strategies namely the company’s Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Strategy and Lubricants Strategy amongst others. He was also a Strategy & Planning Manager within the Group office providing Corporate Planning and Performance Management support to all Oando Plc’s Subsidiaries/SBUs and reporting to the offices of the Group CSO and CFO.

Babatunde also has valuable hands-on operational experience having been one of the founders and pioneer CEO of Xirant Oil and Gas Ltd, a downstream Gas transporter and petroleum products importer, and marketer/retailer serving several stellar clients such as Total Nigeria Plc, Oando Marketing, ENYO Retail, MRS Oil Plc, Gas Terminalling Ltd (Formerly Linetrale Gas) and LAFARGE Cement to name a few. He was also a co-founder of Humphrey Metrology Solutions Limited: An upstream oil & gas instrumentation and legal metrology firm which monitored crude oil loading and undertook scientific and legal metrology at Mobil’s Qua-Iboe Terminal in Eket, Rivers State.

He started his career with Phillips Consulting, a premier indigenous management consulting firm where he worked on several strategy and process review assignments for clients in financial services such as First Bank of Nigeria Plc., Diamond Bank Plc., Consolidated Discounts Ltd, and Nigeria Interbank Settlement System Plc (NIBBS), including multiple Human Resource Interventions, and training and development assignments for organizations such as Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) and MTN Nigeria.

Babatunde holds a BSC Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and an MBA, with a focus on Strategy and Change Management from Cardiff University.  He is a member of the Energy Institute UK.

He is currently the Managing Director at Generis Advisory Services where he oversees the execution of multiple client mandates.
